Interesting in Managing a Team?
Every team needs a manager to help with organisation, set up group chats, send reminders, manage equipment, and coordinate game-day rosters. This rewarding role is a great way to support those new to netball, foster team unity, and keep everything running smoothly. By handling off-court duties, the team manager allows the coach to focus on coaching, ensuring the team is well-prepared and everyone arrives on time for their games!

Team Manager Role Description
Season Commencement
- Set up a template to record players’ and parents’ name, mobile and email. 
- Attend the first team training session to meet parents, introduce yourself and to ensure all contacts are in your chat groups and know where to access season information regarding your team. 
- Log in to PlayHQ prior to season starting – for fixtures and court information. 
- Develop & share a team roster for weekly captain, oranges, scoring and timing duties. 
- If team is recorded first on the fixtures, team is scoring on this date. 
- If team is recorded second, team is responsible for timing. 
Game Day
- Enter playing players line in PlayHQ; recording who is playing/ who is absent or who is filling in. 
- If first game of the day, ensure goal post covers are collected from the FNA storage room and installed. 
- Coordinate with the parent who is on the roster for this week and ensure they know what to do prior to game commencement: - If scoring that week, collect score card from the FNA office and mark playing players with a tick. 
- If timing that week, set up timer (insert battery) – timer is in pink kit bag. 
 
- Recruit a parent & help to clear water from court if it has been raining (junior competition only). 
- Ensure game ball is pumped (umpires will check). 
- Set up water bottle caddy if using. 
- Be on hand to cut nails, tie hair, tape up injuries if required, prompt players to remove jewellery. 
- Carry out water bottles, oranges, snacks to centre of court during game breaks/ half time. 
- Collect bibs from players at end of the game and return to kit bag. 
- Pack away all items into kit bag. 
- Check with coach if bibs require washing and preference for balls/team bag storage for the week (your home or theirs). 
- If team won, take score card to FNA office. 
- Capture team photos, game day action shots & player of the day photos and send to the team managers chat group. 
Team Support
- Liaise with coach to coordinate player absences and fill-ins (if required). 
- Send a reminder message to group chats each week with captain allocation and court numbers. 
- Monitor PlayHQ for fixture changes - there can be fixture and team changes after regrading process (week 6). 
- Coordinate player contributions and coach’s thank you gift (if desired). 
- Coordinate team windup (not compulsory). 
- Check with families prior to posting/ sending player images. 
Club commitments
- Email/ Message reminders through group chats re: club events - training sessions, club wind up, fundraising events etc.
